But many people still believe that injuries \u2013 or even fatalities - are an unavoidable part of what we do. Blitzsteel does not accept this view. That\u2019s why in 2010 we launched \u2018Mission Zero\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Mission Zero is our campaign to eliminate all accidents from our operations. We know it\u2019s a tough target. Achieving it won\u2019t be easy. But, to us, there\u2019s no more worthwhile goal than keeping all our people safe and well. To help us get there, we have launched a number of new initiatives, while improving existing ones.<\/p>\n<h4>\u00a0<\/h4>\n<h4 class=\"alternative-heading\">NEXT GEAR SMS<\/h4>\n<p>Our Swedish Hub launched a new Safety Management System which is now accessible for all Blitzsteel employees, clients and partners.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3362 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.blitzsteel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"860\" height=\"290\" \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"alternative-heading\">CULTURAL CHANGE THROUGH COMMUNICATION<\/h4>\n<p>We believe communication is critical to creating the conditions for Mission Zero. It\u2019s important that everyone understands our approach to health and safety - and feels empowered to play their part. For this reason, we have introduced \u2018one-to-one safety commitment interviews\u2019 for all new starters, including subcontractors. One of the key aims of this exercise is to encourage a culture of care and mutual respect by strengthening relationships between management and the workforce.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"alternative-heading\">RAISING AWARENESS<\/h4>\n<p>We all have a part to play in keeping our workplaces safe. One of the most effective ways we can do this is by being aware of the risks around us and taking action to address these. That\u2019s why we actively encourage all our people to regularly assess their working environments and report any identified risks - as they arise.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"alternative-heading\">ENHANCING WELLBEING<\/h4>\n<p>A key priority of our Mission Zero agenda is the prevention of work-related illness. While there is clear evidence that employment can have a positive effect on personal wellbeing, poor health in the workplace can present significant safety risks.<\/p>\n<p>We offer a range of services to help enhance the health of our employees. These include annual and new-start medicals for all employees (with private healthcare benefits for staff) \u2013 as well as targeted education campaigns aimed at tackling lifestyle-related issues such as diabetes and high blood pressure. In addition, we recently developed a one-day IOSH-accredited course \u2018building a healthier workforce\u2019. This will be rolled out to all individuals involved in the planning and supervision of works \u2013 including members of our supply chain.<\/p>\n<p>Blitzsteel is also pleased to support IOSH\u2019s \u2018No Time to Lose\u2019 campaign \u2013 which seeks to raise awareness of the dangers of occupational cancers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pgc-3358-0-2\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell panel-grid-cell-empty\" ><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our approach to health and safety is based on the idea of personal commitment and individual empowerment.
